The wreck of the Maitai aka The Boiler

The wreck of the RMS Maitai, affectionately known by locals as "The Boiler," is one of the most famous and accessible maritime landmarks in the Cook Islands. Located just 500 metres offshore from the Avarua Harbour reef on the main island of Rarotonga, its nickname comes from the massive steel engine block and boilers that still break through the ocean surface.
