About Mu Pagoa Waterfall

Mu Pagoa Waterfall is a rare and unique natural landmark located on the southern coast of Savaiʻi Island in Samoa. It is highly celebrated as the country's only tidefall—a rare geographic phenomenon where a river empties and tumbles directly into the open Pacific Ocean. Entry requires a small cash custom fee of $5 SAT (Samoan Tala) per person. Swimming directly at the base of the waterfall is strongly discouraged and dangerous due to powerful ocean undercurrents, incoming waves, and sharp rocky drop-offs. However, the shallow river pools just above the drop-off are frequently used by local children and travellers to cool down. Open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, though hours can be flexible since it is located on privately owned land.
