About Pe'ape'a Cave

The cave can only be explored in the dry season (April to November). A guide can be organised with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and is highly recommended. Pe’ape’a Cave refers to two different ancient lava tube destinations in Samoa, each named after the small white-rumped swiftlets (pe’ape’a) that nest inside them. The most famous and easily accessible location is on the north coast of Savai’i Island, while a more challenging jungle trek exists inside the national park on Upolu Island.
