About Royal Palace

The Royal Palace of Tonga, built in 1867 for King George Tupou I, serves as the official residence of the King of Tonga. Located on the oceanfront in the capital city of Nukuʻalofa, it stands as the oldest surviving building in Tonga and serves as a vital symbol of the only unbroken indigenous monarchy in the Pacific. As the private, official residence of the King of Tonga, entry is strictly restricted to the royal family and their invited guests.
