About Rennell Island
Rennell Island, locally known as Mungava, is the largest raised coral atoll in the world. It forms the southernmost province of the Solomon Islands alongside its smaller neighbor, Bellona Island. Unlike the majority of the predominantly Melanesian nation, Rennell is a Polynesian outlier, populated by people of Polynesian descent who have preserved a rich tradition of storytelling, custom, and dance.
