About Matira Point
Matira Beach (Plage de Matira) is celebrated globally as one of the world's most breathtaking stretches of sand and is the only fully public beach on the main island of Bora Bora. Spanning approximately 1.6 kilometres (1 mile) across the island's southern tip, it offers access to world-class powder-white sand and an incredibly clear turquoise lagoon. Remarkably tame stingrays and small blacktip reef sharks frequently glide right up to the water’s edge. They are very accustomed to swimmers and present fantastic close-up photo opportunities.
