Matapa Chasm

Matapa Chasm is a stunning, protected tidal swimming spot and historical royal bathing pool located near Hikutavake on the northern coast of Niue. Enclosed by high limestone cliffs, it features crystal-clear, deep blue water that remains calm and safe for snorkeling regardless of the ocean tide. It's a short, easy 5 to 10-minute walk down a shaded coral and bush track from the roadside parking area. Basic amenities like cold freshwater showers and a toilet are usually available near the top of the track.
