About Sirinumu Dam
The Sirinumu Dam is a critical piece of infrastructure located in the Central Province of Papua New Guinea, situated inland just southeast of Sogeri and outside the capital city, Port Moresby. Constructed between 1958 and 1963 on the upper Laloki River, it forms the massive Sirinumu Reservoir (Lake Sirinumu). The dam acts as the primary lifeblood for the capital, generating the majority of its hydroelectric power via the Rouna Gorge pipelines and supplying its municipal drinking water. Activities: Eco-tourism, boating, fishing, water sports, bird watching, and hiking.
