About Mount Yasur

Mount Yasur is widely considered the world's most accessible active volcano, located on Tanna Island in the Pacific nation of Vanuatu. Rising 361 metres above sea level, this incredible stratovolcano has been erupting continuously for over 800 years, earning it the nickname the "Lighthouse of the Pacific". Booking an evening tour is highly recommended. Arriving just before sunset allows you to watch the erupting lava shift from daytime smoke plumes into a spectacular, glowing night-time fireworks display. : Guided tours are mandatory. Access is restricted or closed if volcanic activity escalates to higher alert levels (Level 3 or 4). Ash and sulfur gases can occasionally make breathing difficult, so carrying a mask, torch and sturdy closed-toe shoes is recommended.
