About Louniel Beach
Louniel Beach is a dramatic, wild black-sand surf beach located on the northeastern coast of Tanna Island in Vanuatu Tourism. Unlike the typical white-sand beaches of the South Pacific, its striking dark shoreline was formed by volcanic ash from Mount Yasur, the island's famous active volcano. The beach features rolling surf, dense groves of coconut palms and pandanus trees, and unique underwater volcanic fumaroles that wash wavy patterns of pumice beads onto the coast.
